Because Disney is trying to kill us, I thought it might be helpful to compare the press release with what we've seen and what we haven't- just to try and keep this season straight in my head.

SEASON THREE EPISODE SYNOPSES

Disney Aired episodes in Italics
Order played on Disney number next to title(please correct me if I'm wrong on this)

Random thoughts

Junior year seems to be going faster than Sophomore year. 12 episodes and its already christmas. Sophomore year took two and half seasons.

"Adios Derek," Actually does seem to fall in their sophomore year. So ummm Derek is taking French AND Spanish???

Figured that one out :-)

So they do have a Prom! Good to know. ;)

ALSO. Aunt Madge? Madge is my grandmother's name. Not a good visual.

I've never seen the summaries - or any mention - of the Christmas ep, "Derek's School of Dating," "Allergy Season" or "Ivanwho?" before. Strange.

I'm very, very worried about Sally. This is why I assumed that she was going to be a bitch, was because the summaries seem to imply that Derek is pining over her. The words "have a chance with Sally" do not bode well. What lines would cross that would make Casey worry about being dumped, AND Derek think he could score with Sally? Hmm.

I'm already going to hate, her though, I can feel it. Even if it is Kate Todd, whom I adore. Sally. Grr.

I LOVE that "Summer School Blues" comes right after "Make No Prom-ises." Maybe all the awesome Dasey action in "Blues" is off of "Prom-ises?" Maybe there's a wonderful, heartwarming, squee-inducing ending? *EEK*

I meant to mention the prom thing and forgot... we do have it! ... I didn't go to mine but their is prom, usually followed by a Safe Grad, which is full of fun activties for prom night after the ceremony/dance to promote a sober night.
26th-Sep-2007 09:07 pm (UTC)
Well, whether we like it or not, Kate Todd is going to be a presence in Season 3 and 4. On her MySpace, she's made note of her guest stint on the show.

I'm thinking she'll start appearing as early as the 2nd episode. She was said to be filming around September 12/13, which is in the middle of the first week of production for LWD. I'm also guessing second because LWD is most likely filming around two episodes a week.

On the plus side, Robbie Amell (Max) should have disappeared by Season 4. He's currently (along with Lauren Collins (Kendra) go figure) filming "Picture This" with Ashley Tisdale.
26th-Sep-2007 09:18 pm (UTC)
Yeah this was floating around all the LwD comms like... a month ago?

I know- I hate Sally already. Derek is going to PINE? and get all excited only to not have a chance at all?? *grrr*

Pretty much my thoughts exactly.

Derek is taking French AND Spanish???

It's plausible. It's an option at my school. Spanish & French. You can take them separately or together. If you're not taking as many sciences/maths you'd have to take something else. So you could do it...
26th-Sep-2007 09:00 pm (UTC)
I did French and Spanish in my second year of high school. French is always an option here due to Canada being bilingual, it's madatory from 4th grade to 9th grade to study French and then from 10th - 12th it is a course you can choose to do. Intro Spanish was offered for only one year though :P
26th-Sep-2007 09:16 pm (UTC)
Thank you!

Thats kind of what i was thinking, but i wasn't sure. Thank you!!

I'm Canadian also. I think we have more than one year of Spanish here. Not sure though.

Honestly, I'm looking forward to;
A Very Derekus Christmas, When Things Go Bump In The Night, Make No Prom-ises and Fright Night the most.

Seriously, how Dasey will those episodes be?
Very, I'm hoping.

I. Love. Season. Three.

I have a feeling that, "Make No Prom-ises"

will make me happy for weeks.

This season is amazing.
26th-Sep-2007 11:22 pm (UTC)
In my Dasey imagination, I'd love to see a scene in "Make No Prom-ises" where Derek tells Casey to close her eyes as he guides her to her replacement gown hanging in her room. And well....full Dasey occurs afterwards. Hugs, smiles, looks, and whatever else is seen.
27th-Sep-2007 08:31 pm (UTC) - Very Dereakus Christmas
I have heard numerous times that derek tells Casey in this episode

'I'm sorry'

i wonder what he is sorry for?

KISSIGN HER?

I can only hope....
27th-Sep-2007 11:13 pm (UTC) - Re: Very Dereakus Christmas
Where did you hear this?!!!! And I agree, because in my dasey-warped mind, that's what I'm hoping for.

Really???

*grins*

27th-Sep-2007 09:49 pm (UTC)
It's stuff like this that really makes you wonder...is it really that hard to run episodes in order? Other networks do it all the time. :p

I get the feeling though, some of these episodes will make me incredibly happy for a long time afterwards.

It does make you wonder. But LWD isn't the first show to get this treatment.

I used to be a big "Lizzie McGuire" fan a few years back, and they faced the same issue. Season 2 started with a V-Day themed episode and ended with an episode about a kids show. (Instead of the 1st day/last day of school episodes that were originally planned production wise.)

I think Disney has screwy schedules because they have so many "themed" months and weekends. Until destineyjen posted her review, I had forgotten that September was Hispanic Heritage Month, which led to the showing of "Adios Derek."

"Summer School Blues" was shown due to their "Back to School" theme, "Show Off Tune" aired due to the HSM frenzy, and "Rumour Mill" won't air until February due to Valentine's Day.

Also, instead of other channels which show reruns regardless of season, Disney will purposely skip holiday-themed episodes until that holiday happens.
28th-Sep-2007 01:03 am (UTC)
agreed. And Lizzie was a Disney production.

I think the children the "theme weekends" target don't really much care about season order...but then they don't really care about the shows either. The networks may be making more money off of the children who buy their Hannah Montana dolls and wigs and such, but it's the older fans who really know more about the show. It's the older fans who can quote the lines and read between them. And we're also the ones most likely to buy the dvds when they come out, things like that.

And I've seen many many people insist that if Derek and Casey DON'T get together ON the show...they'll insist on a movie.

In my opinion, those are the ones the networks should be pleasing. but it's not and it never will be.

And I was just thinking, they premiered season 3 of Suite Life during the summer, and all they aired were summer episodes, because Maddie was always in those camp scenes (could they be more ridiculous. I mean, the show is not that great anyway, but pulling a Chrissie Snow? Good grief.) And then the episodes where they do the HSM episode, and then the following "Zack and Cody go to high school" episode...when school started. They do this to ALL of their shows. But I'm not entirely sure that was in order either. Though probably moreso than most. Still...Why they do the things they do is beyond me.
28th-Sep-2007 04:31 am (UTC)
Well the disney channel does hate us.

I get that feeling too. :-) I'm excited.
28th-Sep-2007 01:21 am (UTC)
When you mentioned that It's Our Party was the one that cemented your hatred for Max. To me, I started to hate him since Misadventures in Babysitting. during the "courtship" we didn't know anything about him (or about what a jerk he could be). Once they officially started dating (which started, what? five minutes after he finally ended it for good with that Amy chick? Can you say REBOUND?) it was all Max wronging Casey. But yeah, their "courtship" phase was kind of cute...the dating phase? not so much.

Also. To me, season one appears moreso that they are freshman. For me it's not only the actors physical maturity, but behaviorally, Derek and Casey are less mature. Secondly, they DID change the [school] set, so it kind of seems like season one they're in the "freshman building" (which a LOT of the bigger schools in my area have...). I mean, obviously, it doesn't work with the timeline (isn't it Home Movies where it's mentioned it's been a year since George and Nora got married? Not to mention they have yet to have a birthday) but then the LWD timeline is more screwed up than the obvious twincest undertones in the wildly popular CHILDREN'S musical, HSM. So...

Not to mention if we wanted to consider Date With Derek part of freshman year, that also clears up that whole "taking french but now spanish?" thing. but seriously, why couldn't Abby have moved to France? Or one of the more French-speaking parts of Quebec? Once they wrote Date With Derek...they should stick to what they wrote. Derek takes French. GRR. They could have called it Adieu, Derek just as easily! And I know the old cop-out "It's different in Canada", but where I'm from sophomores could only go to Prom if they were invited by an junior or senior, and unless I missed something, Make No Prom-ises is still sophomore year, and Max is supposed to be Casey's age, right? Not to mention...Derek took three juniors to the senior prom, right? What, as a FRESHMAN? WTF? Because they're only sophomores for this one? And I hope they don't remember that line and give Derek multiple dates. oh the ridiculosity.

GAH! LWD irritates me so bad sometimes.

It's a good thing I love it or I'd stop wasting my time ranting about things like this and find a new show.
28th-Sep-2007 02:13 am (UTC)
I'm going to assume that prom is junior/senior, mainly because that's the type of prom I was used to in high school. If you put that into consideration, Derek could have taken 3 junior girls to the prom, making his presence possible.

I don't think Max's age and grade has ever been released. We know he can drive in "Bully Brothers," because Derek tells Max at the end that one of his pranks involved his car door. So maybe Max is a grade above Derek and Casey? He is football captain, so that could be plausible.

Speaking of team captains, has anyone else wondered how Derek was hockey captain as a sophomore? Is the guy just THAT good!?! I would understand being captain of the JV team, but Varsity (implied)? Sorry, but that has always been a lingering thought in my head throughout the series' run.

About the French/Spanish dilemma, were there different writers for "Date With Derek" and "Adios Derek?" If so, that could have caused the mix-up. It is possible for people to take multiple languages during the same semester, but why would a slacker like Derek even attempt it?

But again, they constantly show Derek and Casey in the same classes, which isn't exactly realistic. Casey would more than likely be in a number of advanced classes, sans math.

Just noticed, after checking here for the correct order for a post elsewhere, something sick and wrong! (At least, as a Dasey fan).

"Misadventures in Babysitting" takes place directly after Rumour Mill, so we'll say very close to Valentines day in February.

"Allergy Season" (where Casey *hopefully* breaks up, but is at least in the beginning of the episode, still with Max) is the NINTH episode of Junior year, and ONLY THREE episodes before "A Very Derekus Christmas", so though the LWD timeline is screwy and all, the fact that the episode revolves around Max's football jacket (those things are for cold weather. They are very warm. And yeah, this is Canada, but still. I'm guessing that, paired with the 12 first-semester-of-junior-year ninth place thing, it's probably around late October. Which puts her relationship with Max lasting whats looking like eight-ish months.

And she and Sam, who was way better for her, only last a little over one.

Let's all send up a prayer to the Dasey gods that someone fixes all that is currently wrong with Casey's relationship world before season 3 ends!
8th-Nov-2007 01:00 am (UTC)
*sighs* Yes, Casey's relationship with Max will last much longer than her relationship with Sam. I hate that. I wasn't a fan of Sam/Casey, but good grief, he was much better for her than...*shudders*...Max.

Maybe Casey has had one too many fall down the stairs, so she lost all sense when she got with ... him.

But again, I cringed at her line "I thought you'd NEVER ask!" in "Misadventures in Babysitting." It took 11 episodes for Sam and Casey to get together. It took Casey and Max...um, 5.

Be prepared to kick the timeline again when you watch "Make No Prom-ises," when both Derek and Casey attend their Junior Prom. (They state this in the episode...)

So how is Casey supposed to be crowned prom queen for the grade ahead? Kendra may have annoyed me at times, but this was the perfect opportunity for her to appear, since Emily claims she is the popular girl of the grade above, *coughs* the junior class.
6th-Jan-2008 07:14 pm (UTC) - So Confusing...
Wow...the timeline is so ridicuously warped that I don't think I'll even bother trying to figure it out...why were they all at prom as sophmores? Because it couldn't have been junior prom, because by junior Christmas Max and Casey have broken up, right? GAhhh...confuzzled...

Oh, and I'm new here. ;) I'm new to the whole LwD Dasey thing, actually. I really can't say how I got here. Just like two weeks ago LwD was just a show on Disney channel that I sort of liked and would watch if given the opportunity. Then I saw SSB, AVDC, and G-A-C...and for some odd reason I got hooked. I literally fell in headfirst, then I went on FF.net to see if anyone else besides me had ever thought of Dasey...boy was I in for a surprise! ;)

Anywho, so even though it came on ridicuously suddenly, it's been awesome so far. I've been involved in lots of fanbases before, and this one seems like one of the better ones! :p Anywho, I'm off to watch a YouTube LwD marathon...seasons one through three! :D
6th-Jan-2008 10:03 pm (UTC) - Re: So Confusing...
Welcome to LwD Fandom.

We're awesome around here.

*hands you some welcome cookies*

anyway- yes the timeline is insane. Try not to think too much about it, it will give you a headache. I have no idea why they were at the prom as sophmores, or how its even possible that as a sophmore Casey was elected prom queen. It's insane.

Enjoy your marathon!
